And one big difference: Apple’s implementation is all done on your device, keeping the text private, while Google’s is done on its servers.īut overall, Google’s feature works reliably. The text was old, faded and in different colors of ink, but much of it could be copied. I was able to search for names and birth records in a photo or a page in an old family Bible, then copy and paste the text into a Word document. It works reliably, including with handwritten text.
